Eye-popping, day-glo fashion. Stephen Sprouse was a fashion designer and artist credited with pioneering the 1980s mix of “uptown sophistication in clothing with a downtown punk and pop sensibility”. He was an assistant to Halston, spent time at Andy Warhol’s Factory, designed stage outfits for Debbie Harry and created his own lines.
